Integrated Curriculum For Vermont Educators

Our learning framework supports a curriculum that has a number of practices including Universal Design for Learning, proficiency-based instruction, culturally responsive teaching, and exploring global perspectives. A new resource for these practices can be found in the Integrated Curriculum for Vermont Educators (ICVE) that emerged from the Series 2000 Education Quality Standards (EQS), effective July 1, 2025, and the dedicated efforts of the Act 1 Working Group in 2019. The EQS emphasizes that “all Vermont students are provided with educational opportunities that are equitable, anti-racist, culturally responsive, and inclusive.” The ICVE is designed to assist educators in fostering inclusive, challenging, and joyful learning environments.

eduCLIMBER

WSESU uses eduCLIMBER as our comprehensive platform designed to consolidate all data related to students. The platform is designed to enhance student success and wellbeing by assessing and monitoring the effectiveness of Tier 1 practices alongside Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions. In addition to individual and group data, eduCLIMBER provides a tool for our SU to make informed system-level decisions regarding resources and professional development by gaining a holistic perspective on district activities. It features tools for tracking assessment data, interventions, facilitating collaboration and generating effectiveness reports.

Personalized Learning Plans

In Vermont, Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) are a requirement for all students in grades 7-12, stemming from the 2013 Act 77, also known as the Flexible Pathways Initiative. Act 77 mandates that schools work with students to identify their strengths, interests, and goals, and then document this in a PLP to guide their educational experience and future pathways. These plans are designed to be flexible and individualized, encouraging students to pursue diverse learning opportunities and pathways to graduation.
