Assessments

In addition to classroom assessments, our Supervisory Union uses Renaissance Star as a progress monitoring tool during the school year.  Star utilizes a comprehensive method for evaluations, integrating computer-adaptive technology and standards-aligned assessments.  Star Assessments deliver reliable data that supports educators in making informed instructional choices, including future actions, throughout the academic year. In addition, mCLASS is used as a reading screener for our K-3 students.

The Star Reading Assessment adapts to each student's reading ability and is used for our students in grades 3-12. This computer-based tool evaluates reading comprehension and skills, allowing educators to gain insights into students' reading levels, monitor their progress, and pinpoint areas needing improvement. Its adaptive nature ensures a more precise evaluation of each student's reading proficiency.

The Star Math Assessment is a computer-adaptive evaluation employed in educational settings to measure the mathematical abilities of students from kindergarten to 12th grade. This assessment aims to gauge a student's grasp of mathematical concepts, their problem-solving skills, and computational proficiency. STAR Math covers a wide range of math topics, including numbers and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data analysis, and probability. The difficulty of the questions changes according to the student's answers, ensuring a tailored testing experience.

mCLASS DIBELS 8th Edition is a literacy evaluation system used for our students in grades K-3. It integrates digital assessment tools with the DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) framework and is supported by research. This system offers a thorough method for assessing early literacy abilities.

The VTCAPs are administered each spring in all of our schools.  The Vermont Comprehensive Assessment Program (VTCAP) is a statewide assessment administered in the spring for students in grades 3-9 in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and grades 5, 8, and 11 in Science.  In addition, at the high school level, the PSAT 10 is administered to sophomores and juniors take the PSAT.

Staff may access Renaissance Star and VTCAPS (ADAM) at the CLEVER site.
