Special Education is a specially designed education program to help children with disabilities develop skills by offering specialized instruction. An Individual Education Program is created to meet the specific needs of each child. Children who are under three are served by the Children's Integrated Services/Early Intervention Program. When children turn 3 they are then provided services through the Essential Early Education program.
Children ages 3 to 5.11 receive special education services from the school district where they reside. In order to be eligible for special education services a child must meet eligibility criteria for the disability of developmental delay and must demonstrate the need for specialized instruction. In general a child must demonstrate a delay of at least 40% in a basic skill area.
If you have concerns about your child's development and live in Windsor, Weathersfield, Hartland, or West Windsor please call Early Childhood Program at 802-674-8331 and ask for Laurie or Patti.
