Education: MA, School Administration, 1984, Rowan University; MA, Guidance Counseling, 1981, Rowan University; BS, Elementary Education, 1974, West Chester University.

 

Mr. Thomas P. Christensen is the Superintendent of the Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union. He was the Superintendent of Shamong Township (NJ) School District for eight years. Prior to Shamong Township, he was the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education/Human Resources for three years and the Assistant Superintendent for Special Education/Human Resources in the Cherry Hill (NJ) Public Schools for one year. He also served as an elementary principal for eight years in Cherry Hill. Mr. Christensen was a middle school principal for three years in Palmyra (NJ), a middle school assistant principal in West Deptford (NJ) for three years, and a sixth grade middle school teacher in Gloucester Township (NJ) for nine and a half years. He coached high school football and basketball and taught

drivers education at Highland High School (NJ).

In 1996, Mr. Christensen was honored by the New Jersey Principals/Supervisors Association as the recipient of the Golden Lamp Award for the elementary level. He was also selected to participate in the National Principals Leadership Academy at the University of Delaware in 1994. Mr. Christensen is a leader among leaders having served as the President of the Burlington County (NJ) Association of School Administration (Superintendents) during 2009, 2010, and 2011. He also served as President of the Cherry Hill Elementary Principals Association for two years. Mr. Christensen has been active in his prior community (Berlin, NJ) as a softball coach. He also is involved in his parish and recently completed a term on the Assumption School Board of Education.


Mr. Christensen has been married to his wife, Rita, for 35 years. Rita owns an advertising agency and has taught computer graphics in college. They have two daughters, Brenna and Patrice. Brenna is a University of Delaware graduate working in marketing at a medical publisher. Patrice is in the fourth year of a five year masters program in speech pathology at Marywood University (PA). Mr. Christensen believes that nurturing children and providing them with sound instructional practice leads to molding well-rounded successful students.
